Vertex Aerospace, Aircraft Mechanic I/Aircraft Painter, RASME Ft. Bragg, NC

Vertex Aerospace, LLC, RASM-E is a diverse program located in Ft. Bragg, NC, Hunter AAF, Savannah, GA and West Point, NY and Ft. Drum, NY. This position will be located at our Ft. Bragg, NC location and is part of the maintenance team.

SUMMARY: Coats surfaces of aircraft and aircraft parts with paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin or other material using proper application techniques. Remove old paint from aircraft and components using approved mechanical or chemical means. Paint insignia, letters or numerals on aircraft using proper stenciling techniques.


1. Refinishing of aircraft, aircraft parts and/or special tools and ground support equipment.

2. Read and interpret Technical Manuals, technical drawings and other written or oral instructions.

3. Safe operation of the following shop equipment:

a. Paint booth/facility;

b. Compressors;

c. Paint spraying equipment;

d. High-pressure cleaning and blasting equipment (PMB);

e. Hepa-Vac systems; and

f. Blow off booth.

4. Maintains hazardous material and waste records in shop.

5. Must be able to safely mix chemicals used in corrosion control and refinishing processes.

6. Must be physically able to perform duties and responsibilities of the classification.

7. Must be able to pass a pulmonary test and be able to wear a respirator.

8. Must be able to work with required materials without debilitating irritation to skin, eyes or respiratory system while wearing the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).


1. Interface with other personnel regarding refinishing requirements.

2. Performs and records operator maintenance on all assigned tools and equipment.

3. Assists in aircraft towing operations.

4. Responsible for operator level and reporting maintenance faults of maintenance facility.

5. Maintain/record reportable paint usage.

6. Assist in Hazmat management.

7. Assist in work load management and work order closure.

8. Manage paint booth/blast booth expendables, i. e., filters, floor paper, peelable booth coatings, blast media, etc.

9. Assist in clean room environmental compliance.

10. Assist in monitoring of paint booths IAW local and state EPA regulations.


1. High school diploma or equivalent--General Educational Development (GED) certificate.

2. Must have a knowledge of and demonstrate ability to select, mix, blend and apply paints, dopes, varnishes, sealants and other finishing materials used on aircraft surfaces and component parts or three (3) years experience in aircraft industry painting operations.

3. Working knowledge of WEBDESK Reporting preferred.
1. Must have good working knowledge of aircraft parts cleaning, corrosion control and refinishing processes.
2. Must have an understanding and working knowledge of hazardous material (HAZMAT) handling and disposal as related to the job assignment.
3. Must have and maintain a valid state driver s license when required by job assignment.
4. Must obtain and maintain a valid government driver s license when required by job assignment.
5. Must obtain and maintain a valid commercial driver's license (CDL) to include hazardous material endorsement when required by job assignment.
6. Must obtain and maintain the level of Industrial Security Clearance required by the Government. Must be able to obtain and maintain required clearance for Common Access Card (CAC).
7. Responsible for complying with most recent Vertex Aerospace, LLC policies and procedures.
8. Operates motor vehicles, machines and special purpose equipment as required by the job assignment.
9. Performs PMCS and inspection documentation on vehicles, tools and equipment. Performs housekeeping duties in work and common areas.
10. Ensures that tools and equipment used by the employee in the classification are properly calibrated.
11. When selected, attends schools and classes with satisfactory completion, which are designated by the Company for employees in the assigned classification.
12. Uses most current approved methods and publications in the performance of the assigned job.
13. Performs the duties of lower classified employees within the line of progression when assigned.
14. May perform those assignments of employees holding the next higher classification in the line of progression in order to qualify for promotion except for Aircraft Mechanic to Aircraft Technical/NDT Inspector.
15. Completes and maintains records and reports as required by job assignment.
16. Demonstrates job procedures and assists in the on-the-job training (OJT) of employees within the classification as required.
17. Handles and disposes of hazardous materials related to job assignment in accordance with RASM-E and OSHA policies and procedures.
18. Performs duties using automated equipment and software utilized in the functional assignment. Ability to perform Unit Level Logistics System-Aviation Enhanced (ULLS-A E) functions for aviation maintenance performed.
19. Responsible for complying with corporate and installation physical security requirements.
20. Comply with all OSHA and safety standards.
21. Responsible for daily entry of individual hours worked in company timekeeping system.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to climb ladders, stairs and portable stands and navigate these without assistance. Must be able to work at heights 70 feet above the ground. Must be able to work in extreme heat/cold.

Must be able to work in the following environmental conditions: noise, vibration, proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, chemicals, odors, dust. Must be able to bend, reach, stoop, balance, push, pull, kneel, grasp, crouch, crawl, work in narrow aisles/passageways, and work in close spaces that restrict movement including aircraft fuel tanks for extended periods of time.

Must be able to stand for sustained periods of time. Must be able to work primarily with fingers such as picking, pinching, typing. Must have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.

Must be capable of routinely performing industry standard ambidextriosities required to complete tasks. Must be able to lift/maneuver up to 50 pounds. Must be able and willing to enter and work in confined spaces, such as aircraft fuel tanks and beneath floor panels with clearances of 18 24 .

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
